Joanna Barbour began her work in health communication more than 20 years ago. Over that time, she has helped many of the foremost national health organizations plan and implement initiatives designed to make a difference. Her work has addressed many of the biggest public health challenges facing the nation (chronic and infectious diseases, cancer, HIV, obesity, premature birth, underage drinking, substance abuse, mental illness, violence) and promoted many of the solutions (physical activity, nutrition, screening, immunization, effective parenting, support services). She has worked with clients to reach and engage a variety of audiences, including health care providers, patients, parents, youth, and educators. Joanna brings particular strength in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, formative research, writing, and creative approaches, as well as top-notch project management. Joanna was awarded the Certified Communicator in Public Health designation from the National Public Health Information Coalition.
