Trillium is helping the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) make a new online system understandable and actionable for CMS and state Medicaid employees. The new system, the Medicaid and CHIP Program system (MACPro), is a major step forward in improving Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) management. Yet is also requires a major step from users who are accustomed to a longstanding paper-based system. Training in development includes brief instructional videos, webinars, and in-person presentations, as well as an online library of MACPro how-to materials. Trillium is also slated to develop an overarching coordinated communication strategy for the entire CMS Medicaid and CHIP Business Information and Solutions initiative. Trillium has introduced communication techniques such as plain language and visuals, and participatory training methods, to improve usability and enhance learning outcomes.
